Went pretty well! I got some measurements done by the sonographer and more blood drawn. Here are some physical (boring) stats: I'm still 124lbs, my BP is 110/70 (again, I got good pressure I guess)... and the kid: CRL (crown to rump length- not kidding, that's what it's called) is 64mm, nasal bone was present at 2.1mm, nuchal translucency was 1.2mm and the hearbeat was 162. So, as far as the docs tell us and what I've read online, those numbers are pretty good/average for 12 weeks.
Technology today is freakin' amazing, is all I have to say. Ok, I guess there's more to say b/c there's plenty more behind this period. My mom was saying her 'back in the day' stories about how fortunate we are. I think it's kind of a blessing and a curse. I guess the whole ignorance is bliss thing applies here with not having the ability to know what's going on and just cross your fingers that in 9 months or so after you find out you're pregnant, the thing growing inside of you is ok.... but then again, I'm a planner and not big on surprises so any angle I can get, I'll take. If the kid's going to need additional help, I'd like to know now if I can. The numbers look good. Ok, done with the stat stuff....
On the more weepy and emotional front- It was so freaking cool!!!! My first sonogram was a little jelly bean with a flutter. This was a full on person with spine, fingers and holes in skull (the ones that are supposed to be there), all visible! The kid was asleep and the sonographer had me get up and move around and drink water to wake it up... then it was completely on it's head and flipping around. When the sonographer lady found a good spot, the kid's hands came up to the eyes to shy away from the camera.... tough shit kid, I'm a photographer and you, my dear, are going to get plenty of photos taken of you in your lifetime!!!! Get over the camera shy bit now. =)
So the doc appointment went fine. Found out which hospital we'll be delivering at and all.... gonna look into a 4D sonogram next month when I get back from Austin. Until then, and the 3rd at my regular doc, no more news on the baby. Just gonna eat what I wanna and sleep when I can.
