Mini-break....

T and I got to get away this week and play tourists.... we went to Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Balboa and more.... a few pics here, more to come when film gets dev'd.

Sea World was okay, pretty commercial and I can see kids having more fun than what we did but it was pretty and nice and all...

Wild Animal Park was fun but we went on Monday (President's Day- everyone else had the same idea). Aside from the large number of people, we had a blast taking all the long ways and walking all the trails. T had never been so we got the passes to that and the Zoo for the year figuring whatever we don't see now, we'll catch up when we can later.

Didn't make it to the Zoo on Tuesday... we started out for Balboa and walked around the Botanical Gardens, Museum of Man and Museum of Photographic Arts. They had a cool exhibit of shots featured over the last 70 years or so- pretty cool, some of the candid street/people shots were pretty timeless, others very period and interesting.

Wednesday, we headed out of town. Dropped the pooch off at the puppy condo (aka, my dad's place) and headed east off the 8 then up to the Salton Sea. Hit a town called Niland and saw Salvation Mountain and met Leonard briefly. Got some cool shots before shooed off by the rain. Drove north and came into Joshua Tree National park through the South entrance, camped out (slept in truck in sleeping bag with blankies) at Cottonwood Springs. Yes, the lunar eclipse was visible out there but it rained right before and there were pesky clouds dancing about the otherwise clear and starry sky. So the moon was pretty hazy. Plus, it was un-freaking-believably cold out! It was windy and about 36 degrees so yeah, we didn't brave it for the shots... We decided that 29 palms had a nice, warm king size bed, wi-fi and cabled room with our name on it for the next night. We came back for a day of shooting and got some decent stuff until the wind kicked back in. And, of course, I didn't pack my digi slr battery charger- why would I with three fully charged batteries?! Oh wait, one died and I tried the other two, not the case... so I shot a ton of film, we'll see how it goes with that.

The rest of the weekend is cleaning and hanging out. Got another doc appointment on Monday. We'll update again.
