Last night we got the grand tour.... I would say nickel tour but the average cost of delivery nowadays according to this hospital is around $5,000. I was very impressed with the facilities- totally quiet in the hallways, tons of waiting rooms (equipped with flat screens and comfy couches even), no glaring fluorescents in the LDR rooms....very cool.
So, the way it goes I guess is I'm gonna have some people on a call list- Cim, ReKnee, Dad.... when the doc says to go in, I'll have them take us in. The Women's Center entrance is open 24 hrs to laboring moms but not so much for helpers and family (9-9 to the public) . The entrance right next to it is open until 11pm. If it's after 11 and before 7? then it's through the ER for interested parties. Floor 2 has LDR rooms- light wood paneling, soft lights, tv with dvd/vcr in room.... levels 2 & 3 have recovery rooms for the 36 hours after delivery with overflow higher up in older rooms. We got to see the worst case upper floor overflow rooms- not bad, just older and smaller really. Nurse ratio is 1:1 with rare busy times of 1:2 with 20 minutes per hour being monitoring in room of mommy... cool.
We finally made reservations for 'childbirthing class' on the 6th and 13th next month, heh. Should be fun. More later! =)
